Blue Waters of Pamukkale

Pamukkale

Pamukkale, located in southwestern Turkey near the city of Denizli, is one of the country’s most iconic natural and historical attractions. Its name means “Cotton Castle” in Turkish, inspired by the stunning white terraces formed by mineral-rich thermal waters.

🌿 Natural Wonder

Pamukkale is famous for its travertine terraces—bright white, calcium-rich formations created by hot springs flowing down the hillside. Visitors can walk barefoot along designated paths and enjoy the warm, shallow pools.

🏛️ Ancient City of Hierapolis

At the top of the terraces lies the ancient Greco-Roman city of Hierapolis, founded in the 2nd century BC. Highlights include:

A well-preserved theatre
The Necropolis (one of the largest ancient cemeteries in Anatolia)
Roman baths and temples

♨️ Thermal Experience

Pamukkale has been a spa destination for centuries. One of the most famous spots is:

Cleopatra’s Pool
